S3 Soccer Program
What to Expect
-
First off, thank you for showing interest in the program. This (8) week program will focus on building a sound foundation before unlocking your true athletic potential. We will focus on targeted strength, balance, power, conditioning, speed, change of direction, and agility that all are specific to the athletic demands of a soccer athlete.
Meet the Program Director
-
My name is Robert Rojas PT, DPT, OCS, SCS. As a Sports Physical Therapist, I have helped many athletes, from youth to the professional level, return back from injuries/surgeries that they have sustained when playing their sport. Along the way, I came to realize that there is a huge gap in the strength/performance programs for youth soccer. Growing up playing soccer myself and working my way up to the semi-professional ranks, I realized that we rarely focused on performance training. This is what led me to create this program. My mission is to help soccer athletes reach their true athletic potential and address any movement impairments to decrease risk for injuries.
What/When/Where?
-
The program will be performed in the gym and on the field. The program is designed to be completed in person, individually or in small groups. However, there is an option to perform remotely as well if you are out of town for part of the program. The gym workouts are currently planned to be at The Zone (10371 Stella Link Rd, Houston, TX 77025). The field-based days will be at Rice University soccer stadium (Holloway Field) and are planned to be on Saturday Mornings. The overall weekly time commitment includes 2 gym-based days, 1 field-based day, and 1 conditioning day. The conditioning day is optional depending on time commitment and personal practice schedule.
Measure your Progress!
-
As part of this program, we want to provide you with measurable results. We will conduct a testing day at the start and finish of the program measuring strength, power, speed, and agility. These tests will provide us with valuable information on your athletic profile. We will use tests/measures that are commonly used at the collegiate and professional levels including 20 yd dash, 40 yd dash, pro shuttle test, and more. We will also analyze certain movement patterns to address any limitations early in the program. These results can also be great to provide coaches for recruiting!
Bonus!
-
After the field-based session. We plan to hold a friendly, yet competitive, small-sided pick up soccer. Last year, we had the opportunity to host some small-sided play and we were able to get ex-dash players, current D1 college players, and more high-level players to attend. So this could be a great opportunity for some high school players to get a chance to play with some of the top players in Houston!
